Order of Canada

Description: 

Established in 1967 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Order of Canada is the cornerstone of the Canadian Honours System, and recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
The Order recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society. Their contributions are varied, yet they have all enriched the lives of others and made a difference to this country.

Eligibility Criteria:

All living Canadians are eligible for the Order of Canada, with the exception of federal and provincial politicians and judges while in office. Non-Canadians can be considered for “honorary” appointments if they have made a sustained and exceptional contribution to Canada.
Officers and Members may be promoted within the Order in recognition of new achievements that expand the reach or impact of their contribution to Canada. Nominations for promotion follow the same process as initial nominations.
If a candidate has been previously considered but not appointed to the Order of Canada, a new nomination can be brought forward five years after the last nomination.

Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers

Description: 

A Humboldt Research Fellowship for experienced researchers allows to carry out long-term research (6-18 months) in Germany. Applicants choose their own topic of research and their academic host. The fellowship is flexible and can be divided up into as many as three stays within three years.
The Humboldt Foundation grants approximately 500 Humboldt Research Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers and experienced researchers annually.

Eligibility Criteria:

Scientists and scholars of all nationalities and disciplines may apply.
Researchers from abroad with above average qualifications, completed their doctorate less than twelve years ago, already have their own research profile and are working at least at the level of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Group Leader or have a record of several years of independent academic work are eligible to apply.
The applicant may not have spent an extended period in Germany prior to application. Potential applicants who have been in Germany for more than six months at the time of application are not eligible to apply.

Humboldt Research Awards

Description: 

The award is granted in recognition of a researcher’s entire achievements to date to academics whose fundamental discoveries, new theories, or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and who are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements in the future.
Award winners are invited to spend a period of up to one year cooperating on a long-term research project with specialist colleagues at a research institution in Germany. The stay may be divided up into blocks.
The Humboldt Foundation grants up to 100 Humboldt Research Awards annually. The award is valued at €60,000.

Eligibility Criteria:

Academics from abroad, regardless of their discipline or nationality, may be nominated for a Humboldt Research Award.
The nominee’s future perspectives must indicate that she/he will continue to be an active, academically influential researcher in the coming years.
Nominations may be submitted by established academics in Germany. Nominations may also be initiated by award winners of the Humboldt Foundation working abroad, provided that the nomination is made jointly with a colleague working in Germany.

Benjamin Franklin Medal
