Will there be orientation events for new students?

Yes! York’s Orientation will begin September 5, 2020 with a variety of fun activities to help you make some new friends and learn more about your program and York. As part of the week, you’ll want to be sure to attend your mandatory Academic Orientation September 8. Visit the Orientation 2020 website for your Orientation Resource Guide, and check back regularly for updates on events as they are confirmed.

Will I be able to participate in the YU START program? How do I enroll in courses?

Every undergraduate student has access to YU START. The Faculties below conduct their course enrolment for newly admitted students through YU START: Arts, Media, Performance & Design; Environmental & Urban Change; Health; and Liberal Arts & Professional Studies.

If your Faculty/program does not conduct enrolment through YU START, you will be provided with academic advising through your Faculty to support your transition to York. Visit MyFile for more information.

What will my first day of classes look like with courses being online and/or remote this fall?

YU START’s York 101 module includes a series of videos designed to help you prepare for your first week of classes, learn how to navigate Moodle and Zoom, and provide you with online learning supports. Your course syllabus should provide you with information about how to log in to and begin your classes.
